If anyone imagines only the very best SF novels written appear in book shops they’re sadly misinformed. An endless number of amazing SF novels have been written over the years but got tragically overlooked by the Publishing industry for a variety of reasons, including taste, politics and each publishing professionals personal preference. Sadly Science Fiction is still the unloved left-handed ginger haemophiliac stepchild of literature.
But over the last 10-15 years almost all of the creative energy in SF has slowly shifted from the gatekeepers of TradPub to wild-west of SelfPub, leaving bookshops flooded with the current endemic Romantasy slop we see today.
That’s sad for book shops and a lot of readers, but not for us.
