 s follows.\n\nThroughout history\, people have asked ‘what if?’. We ha
 ve always allowed our imaginations to create other worlds as expressions o
 f our wildest dreams\, hopes and fears\, and so better to understand our o
 wn. ‘Science Fiction’ expresses this human need in potent ways\, but s
 o does the work of Jonathan Swift\, Lewis Carroll and George Orwell.\n\nTh
 e story and present state of our speculations are explored by Erik Davis\,
